Please see e-mail below received this evening from Kent FA regarding a directive from The FA at Wembley that ALL grassroots football is to be suspended for the foreseeable future.
In view of this statement the Rochester & District League have no alternative but to SUSPEND ALL FIXTURES with immediate effect.
We have no idea when The FA will lift the suspension - it may very well be several months. A decision regarding whether unplayed fixtures will be rescheduled and for when OR whether the season will be declared "null and void" will be taken in due course.
Meanwhile, all our scheduled Cup Finals this season are, of course, suspended and will need to be rescheduled. I require retirn of all rickets issued to Clubs. All Clubs having sold tickets to supporters are requested to obtain the tickets back from the
Purchasers and to RETURN THE TICKETS TO ME BY 31st MARCH.
I will keep you posted regarding further developments as they occur.
Subject: Coronavirus Update - 16.3.2020
Please see statement that we have just received from The FA:
Following the Government’s announcement today, for people to avoid social contact and gatherings where possible, we are now advising that all grassroots football in England is postponed for the foreseeable future.
Throughout this period, we have taken Government advice with the priority being the health and wellbeing of all. We will continue to work closely with the grassroots game during this time.
We are in regular communication with the Government and the situation within English football at all levels remains under regular review. Further updates will follow as needed.
We are seeking clarification on some issues and will be releasing a statement tomorrow morning. I wanted you all to be aware of the FA and Kent FA’s position as soon as possible.
Thank you for all your hard work and support in what is a difficult time for each and everyone of us.
